1-5/8" above the bed rail. This was with the gen turned 'sideways' so that all 4 feet were in the low spots of the corrugated bed, and measured to the top of the gas cap. A board was laid across the bed rails for measurement.
The brackets for the generator feet could be removed to gain almost all of that 1.625" back, but there is a ventilation area on the bottom so keep that in mind.
I have an over the rail fiberglass tonneau that gives me a couple extra inches; it's a close fit.
Boogie,
That's pretty close...It looks like the gas cap would push up the cover fabric a bit maybe enough to work.
I would feel awkward going to a dealer and asking them to put it in knowing I would probably not be buying it from them. Most dealers go by list price.

Your issue will be getting it in the bed yourself, they are pretty heavy.
Getting it in would be a one time deal. It would stay there all year round.

- downtheroadExplorerWhat I would do is drive over to whatever the Honda generator dealer is and try it out...see if it will fit.
