Putting aside the discussion of whether or not flushables wipes should be used in the black tank for the moment, if they were to be used would adding RidEx to the tank help decompose them? Our black tank is over 60 gallons so we can go about two weeks before we have to dump while we're snowbirding. If they were to be used I'd like to minimize the chances they would cause a blockage while dumping the black tank. Thanks.

No. Your tanks are "holding tanks" not septic tanks. Any "septic safe" tissue will disolve normally in the tank and solids will disolve normally with proper amount of use. Water is really all you need. All other "flushables" should be avoided as you are not "flushing" them like you would at home.

Just use a lot of water..Nothing else is needed. You might have to dump more often because of all the water...B.O.

Almost anything that is advertized as "flushable" is only "flushable" if you are on city sewer.Even then, the city's sewer people almost universally hate them, as they gum up the systems.

When I winterize I put in a little antifreeze and water in the black tank with Rid X and leave all winter. My theory is that stuff tends to build up in there and DW flushes wipes down. Have done this for almost 30 years and 5 RVs and never had a dump problem.

They probably mean "now sold in a special, way more expensive container that says on it Ridx for RV's". Sucker bait! Just like that "special" RV TP.

I'd add, though, that in my opinion as both a longtime septic system owner AND a former Environmental Health Specialist:
RID-X is sucker bait PERIOD since all the bacteria needed for a septic tank to work is manufactured in the bowels of the users.

I'm sure RidX would wring their hands with excitement over the prospect of RV'ers wasting their money to buy their product for this useless purpose....... :S

RidX will take a good bit of time to work. I hope you don't intend to let the black tanks sit full that long.
If it will dissolve quickly, into the tank. If it will block up the plumbing, no, even with RidX. ladies personal things, I assume you are talking about. No No No :)

Put one in a jar of water and let it sit. See how long it takes.
Put a top on the jar so it does not spill if tipped over.

This might sound a little gross, but a boating friend recommended what many boaters do. TP is put into a small container placed next to the toilet and never put into the holding tank. That solves all problems with holding (black) tanks.
