  • We lived in the Heber/Overgaard area and YES it gets cold and YES there can be a lot of snow. Feb. 2007 we got 48" of snow in a single dumping. The town was shut down for days!!!!!
  • The big winds usually pick up in March, specially south into N Mexico. It was always a concern for us heading back east.
  • We have been in the Tucson area year round for 9 years. It is not windy in the winter, if you want wind come back in the spring. Winter wind and the resulting dust are more common in Yuma, Casa Grande and out on the BLM land. Conditions like wind and temps will vary greatly by elevation and Arizona offers anything you might want from sea level to 10,000+'.

Low the temps in a "normal' winter (and we haven't had one for a while), will be in the 30's-40's and occasionally dip into the 20's. Day time temps can be anywhere from 60 to mid 80's with 72 being about average. Last "winter" it was 80 something every day from October through April with about a dozen cool days thrown in. :B
  • To answer your question...yeah, the wind is a constant companion. If you are going to be in an RV park, it won't be so bad, if, however, you are going to be out in the boonies, then you will experience the wind...and the dust it carries with it. It'a the dust that is the issue. It is a fine, talcum like product that gets in everything and everywhere. When I was in the southern US for 6 months of winter, I went thru two 12 volt vacuums. It gets into the computer(s), camera(s), food, all your clothing and bedding. I found that a once a week cleaning kept it all to a dull roar.
