Window "Shade" Maintenance

2015 Jayco Flight. The window shades go up and down on strings, positioned on both ends. What PMs are needed? Like putting wax or some lubricant on the strings to make the shades go up and down smooth...

buy some that don't fall off? Mine are really tough to get off.

OP- if you ever break a string, they are easy to fix with a little time. I keep spare parts on board just incase.

  • Adjust the tension at the bottom where the string is wrapped around. That's what we were told at our walk thru. Has worked fine for us.
  • Take a look at the strings to see if the strings are starting to fray. It is much easier to restring the Day-Night shades if you catch them before the string breaks.
  • No maintenance needed. Just be gentle with them and run them up and down slowly. Friction will break the strings. If they are the type that has spools at the end with a few turns of string around them, adjust the tension to the point where the shades just stay up without falling. This will also save the strings from breaking.
