Hi Rice, good to hear from you. Thanks for the great info about Padre, especially South Padre which I am also interested in checking out. Excellent pictures, I love the flags standing sideways at sunset :)
How are the air and water temps there this time of year? Is there any temp difference between Bird Island and South Padre? Is that Carey in the 3rd pic . . .looks like he's wearing 3/2 wetsuit?
Thanks also for the tips on the weed fin requirements. I am in the middle of getting a new weed fin--lost a few inches on the one I already have. Lesson learned was: even when the board seems safely tucked in the pickup, make sure it is strapped firmly in the bed as it does not surf the highway very well. Thank god i bought the board bag when i got the new board.
November was rough for us, Maureen's dad had a couple of illnesses--nothing too serious, ear infection etc., but enough to make me elect to stay in South Carolina till he was healthy. At 92 not serious can turn to very serious quickly. We did however, get moving at the end of November, but I figured Padre would be too cold by then, so we went to the Florida Keys instead. We just got back to South Carolina yesterday--wanted to spend the holidays with my dad. Have not uploaded pictures to the computer yet, but I will in the next few days. We spent a week in Largo and 2 weeks in Key West.
