Lake Lopez! We sailed there in 2004; here's a link to the write-up I did of our stay there.
We'd always heard about sailing there, and were surprised when we laid eyes on it how short the reach was. Carey just said, "It'll keep you busy." Indeed.
That's the only time I've ever been perfectly powered up so that I could take my hands off the boom for an extended period of time. I have no idea why--must have been some sort of planetary alignment issue. All I know is it hasn't happened in the 7 years since then.
And I must say, it didn't take you long to hotfoot it to warmer water. :)
Our next planned destination is the Formula 1 race in Austin in 2012. It was supposed to be in June, so we were thinking of sailing in Corpus in the spring and then going to the race, but they moved it to November--I think the FIA realized that even they can't handle the lawsuits from scores of people dropping dead from the heat. That's good for the potential victims, but it screws up Spring sailing for us.
Of course, I said that about last Spring and we ended up spending two weeks in Corpus in May, so you never know.
