I just finished totally emptying out my elderly parents MH. It hasn't been used since Mar.2013 when Dad & my hubby drove it home (Barrie, ON) after Mom was medevac'd up from Florida. Dad told me he had emptied the motorhome after getting home. This fall Dad finally realized that age 85 he was never going to use it anymore (Mom ended up in a nursing home in '13)& consented to sell it.
I went into the MH to make sure everything was out (it wasn't) and discovered both pantries full of canned goods! Over the last 3 winters we have had many days of temps far below freezing for days on end. None of the cans had burst! Not even the pull-top cans (Chunky soup, sardines...) -some cans were only slightly bulging, but no leaks! I couldn't believe it.
I remove all the cans & condiments from our trailer when we winterize it and use them up in the house. Next spring the trailer is re-stocked with all fresh supplies.
