Wisconsin rest stops
Are they open??? with the shut down in govt. Plan to head up to the Land of 10,000 lakes and might need a rest.:B

'Nothing' to do with the local gov issue. They started closing most of them over 4 years ago. Each year I go back more of them have been closed.
They also have 'permanently closed' ALL dump stations at Wisconsin Rest areas. So don't count on that based on any map or book that shows dump facilities they will not be open.
WI got rid of the dump stations long ago, most were eliminated by the mid-'90s. As far as closed rest areas, can you cite which ones? All the ones I know of have been slightly relocated and rebuilt, but I know of none that have been eliminated, at least not on the Interstates. If you are talking about the ones on the country highways that only had out houses, then yes, most of those have been eliminated. I never really considered them true "rest areas" per-say.
