You sound like me. I wouldn't be able to look at my reflection in a mirror if I made this deal. Follow your heart. There's so much more about living than money. There will be another buyer.
Personally, I would find it very offensive if someone I didn't know was telling me what I can and cannot purchase. If I show up with the money, I better be walking away with the merchandise if it is still for sale when I get there.
They told me they had a dealer refuse to sell them a trailer based on its weight, so I wouldn't be the only one, if I decided not to sell it. But a dealer is much more likely to be sued, as they're supposed to know what they're talking about (supposed being the operant word here) and they have more to lose than I do in a lawsuit.
I have offered to let them hitch it up and tow it around some hilly back roads to see how it handles. And yes, I have made full disclosure on the few dings it has.
