Would selling this trailer be irresponsible?

Withholding the sale of goods and services because there is something you do like about the buyer you don't like IS something that is falling under increased scrutiny. If they don't go through with this sale they better hope the buyer doesn't feel they are in some protected class and are being unfairly discriminated against.
Personally, I would find it very offensive if someone I didn't know was telling me what I can and cannot purchase. If I show up with the money, I better be walking away with the merchandise if it is still for sale when I get there.

They told me they had a dealer refuse to sell them a trailer based on its weight, so I wouldn't be the only one, if I decided not to sell it. But a dealer is much more likely to be sued, as they're supposed to know what they're talking about (supposed being the operant word here) and they have more to lose than I do in a lawsuit.

I have offered to let them hitch it up and tow it around some hilly back roads to see how it handles. And yes, I have made full disclosure on the few dings it has.
