We sold a kitchen table and chairs to a young couple about a year ago. They showed up with a small pick-up truck that was already half loaded. The stacked the table and the chairs and a few other items in the back of that truck and didn't even tie it down. I offered them some rope, which they did use, it was still a very unsafe way they loaded the merchandise.
Was I responsible once they pulled out of my drive-way? I don't think so! They were completely liable for the contents on that truck and anything the might have happened on their way to their destination.
I would think the same is true with selling any kind of RV. It is the owner's responsibility to tow or drive an RV safe and within the standards of their State of Residence, not the seller.
Just make sure you have a bill of sale (a receipt) and the title is signed and notarized is your state requires a notary. It's the new owner's responsibility.
And, by the way ... make sure you remove the license plate before they drive off, and YOU keep the license plate AND the registration papers. They get the title only, you get a receipt. That's all you need to do.
They have to assume the liability and risks of how they use the camper.
