Yup, that song says it all.
We thought we were cutting edge because we took Space Food Sticks and Tang when we went backpacking - both spinoffs from the space program. Sometimes we even had freeze-dried Neapolitan ice cream (bad stuff). I remember sitting along the East Fork of the Cimarron exhausted in the pouring rain wishing we'd brought some real food.
