OK, folks, I just had a talk with these potential buyers and sent them a link to a thread about towing with Honda Elements that had some pros and cons. I told them about some experiences I've had with towing while way under the limit, still scary.
They were very appreciative and are going to buy a friend's Toyota Forerunner that's for sale which would easily pull this. End of problem and I think this is a win-win solution.
Thanks again for all the comments, it's been a very interesting read.
Whoa, whoa, whoa...
Are you just taking their "word" that they are buying this supposed "4Runner"?
If they show up in the 4Runner, how do you know they actually own it and they didn't just borrow the 4Runner?
You better ask to see the title.
Furthermore, how do you know that the 4Runner they are towing with will "easily pull this"? You better check out all of the specs of that 4Runner before making such a statement!
Oh, one more thing...does that Chalet have a propane tank and a fridge? If so, do you know that they will not run the fridge on propane while driving? If it doesn't, do you know that they will not add a propane tank and a fridge after the sale, and proceed to run the fridge on propane while driving?
You better follow them on all of their trips to make sure they know what they are doing. Come back here to rv.net in case you are unsure of what you should do to keep them in line.
Or how does he know they won't tow over the speed limit or exceed the speed rating of the trailer tires!
