You could change the oil every 1,000 and recommend same because you have no problems.
3,000 mile change was common advertising in the '50s when cars recommended 1,000 mile service using paraffin based oils. The new refined oils held up way better. Move along 60 years and we are at a new level of oil, filtration and engine manufacturing. 10,000+ miles is very common service interval. It is the service departments that continue to sell 3,000 miles to get you in the service bay and upsell you on other unneeded maintenance.
Go by the manufacturer's book or oil life monitor and you are fine.
