I've started tent camping again every once in a while with my teenage son. We have a great time. The last trip we slept in our hammocks under the stars. Once I got settled, it was one of the best camping sleeps I've had in my entire life. Loved it and can't wait to do it again.
Give a hammock a try. I was shocked at how easy it was to set up (with tarp above) and how comfortable it was.
