One of these free-standing portable AC's would work well in a tent http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/air-conditioning/portable/fgd-portable-air-conditioner-fra053pu1-115v-5000-cooling-btu?utm_source=google_pr&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Portable-Air-Conditioners-google_pr&infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=COSL8uX6orgCFUdo7AoddAYA7w
Believe me, I'm not a masochist, when I car camp I do bring whatever it takes with me to be comfortable, same thing for canoe camping. Only when I backpack do I bite the bullet and do the masochistical thing. And with a good Thermarest sleeping pad, even backpacking isn't that bad.
