Like others, we really like our HTT, with the tent feeling and the TT comforts- especially AC!
But, I take at least one annual trip with the guys where we canoe, fish, etc for a couple of days. We don't plan our campsites, don't carry wood (scrounge), and carry everything in our couple of canoes- including tents.
We sometimes nap in the canoe on the river during the day (different place each year) and fish most of the night, so a tent is a VERY WELCOMED luxury!
My DW and DD have camped with me in my backpacking tent and we had a ball, rain or shine, but we'd never "trade" our HTT for a tent exclusively, given a choice.
