Grew up camping, but in a homemade camper Dad designed and built. It did have a tent for sides and roof (sewn by Sears). We could load up the wooden box with clothes, food and toys and the kitchen frame was mounted on the back of the family car. We had some grand trips in that rig.
DH and I had a truck camper that worked for us with two little girls. No camping for decades, then we got into Civil War reenacting and that meant an A-tent for the next 12 years. Now we have a new Class C MH and we love it. Will we go back to the A-tent? Well we will have to for a reenactment...but we may haul it all in the MH...the MH will be nice when we have to have the A/C or the weather goes south...but right now I don't see us ever completely giving up the tent. We'll be using that MH a lot more though...
