Wrong RV furniture

We just arrived home from putting a deposit on an RV. We loved the layout, but thought there was something a little strange about the recliners in the unit, they didn't seem to quite match. I had asked about switching out the chairs, and they told us no. When I looked up the same model online I found many pictures that show different chairs that better match the other furniture in the unit. I assume they needed the chairs from our unit for some reason, and switched them out. What I am wondering is do I have a leg to stand on to get the right chairs? We did agree to buy the unit with the chairs that are in it. We have spent 6 months looking for the right camper and really don't want to just not take it. Would love to hear ideas about what we can do.

  • Ordered two new RVs and the literature showed seats in the shower. Both came with no seats. Read the fine print on the literature. If you want to get what you think you are getting buy off the lot or used.
  • Never had any problem removing recliners right out the front door and have done it several times on different rigs....if it's new I would make certain I got the recliners that are supposed to be in it!
  • "Swapping-out" recliners isn't always so easy as it sounds. Usually a slide has to be completely removed to facilitate the exchange. This is probably why they said no.

  • If you haven't bought it then don't if you do not get the results you like.

Our TT was new but the dealer took 2 stools out for another customer. The dealer offered us the choice of taking some of a different style he had in stock or he would order the exact ones.
  • I think your next-to-last sentence says it all: It took you six months to find the right one. Do you really want to reject it now because of the color of the chairs?

Are they comfortable? That's really what counts, because you'll be spending an awful lot of time in them.

They refused to fix it, and you agreed to accept it as-is, so it does sound like this is a theoretical question now. If it turns out that they bother you more later, rather than less, you can either recover them or sell them and buy something else.
  • Wouldn't be the first time a salesman took something from one unit and used it to sweeten the deal on another.

As mentioned, if new you have some clout, otherwise it may cost you a trip to a furniture restorer.
  • You are buying the rig you looked at and signed the contract for. Any brochure or comments from the manufacturer are outside the four edges of the contract. If you didn't want it the way you saw it, you are beyond the negotiation line when you "Agreed to buy".

Besides a few trips and some use, you will not care about the "color" match.

If it is a used coach, the previous owner probably switched them. Most factory recliners are pretty uncomfortable.
If you agreed to purchase the unit with the chairs that are in there, all you can do is ask, and it appears you already did.
If the coach is new, that's a different story altogether. Do as OB suggested and print out the online color pattern, which is available on the Manufacturers website. Then you would have a leg to stand on.
    Good luck.

  • Get the brochure or print out the pictures and show them..... go for a swap or an added discount.

If they bock.....tell them you want confirmation from mfg. that those recliners are the correct color scheme for that rig.
    (Get the discount!)

And IF they give you grief over the recliners....what kind of issues will you end up with them later for service :H

If they treat you badly before sell........well, be forewarned.
