Y adapter for fresh water at park water supply post?

just keep the water flowing when you disconnect the gray so nothing can back flow. if "stuff" can fight its way 25 ft against the current, it will get a medal from me.

No, been doing it for years and we're still alive to talk about it. If you are really concerned get the one with the cutoffs on each end of the Y fitting. That way when you leave the RV, if you want to shut the water off to the RV while you are away for the day, it's easy to do so. And when flushing, you can also shut off the fresh supply if you feel the need to.

Flushing your tanks at a non-potable water location would be best.

If you really REALLY must, you should at a minimum use a Back Flow Preventer , to prevent the potential contamination of the water source and your clean/drinking hoses -

Well the flushing device has a back flow preventer. That and the grey hose is only hooked up during the flushing operation, don't want that tanked filled on accadent!
That and you would need to suck back about 15' of water.

I KNOW for a fact there is a backflow preventer on the inlet of my black tank flush. I had to replace it once. It cracked and flooded the bathroom. The way it is plumbed the connection goes through the wall into the backflow preventer then down the inside wall under the sink through the floor into the black tank. I see no way for anything (germs, feces or the like) to get from the black tank, three feet straight up the pipe to the backflow preventer, through said preventer then outside to the hose connection. When I have full hookups I unhook my freshwater hose then hook it to the flush and when done flushing hook it back to the city water inlet. No problems.

you're making lots of assumptions....that the back flow preventer is in place & working.
and that someone knows what theyre doing.

you think its safe, feel free to drink outta that hose yourself. personally i find it dangerous and selfish if not lazy that someone would take this chance rather than use the water source that is intended for tank flushing !

do you fill your tanks from questionable or uncertain sources ??

A little bacteria never hurt anyone. Killed a few tho.

I wouldn`t leave the flusher attached. to much of a risk that it may leak into and overflow the black tank! as far as contamination....the flusher has a backflow preventer built into it, or at least it should. It`s easy to install a backflow preventer at the Y adapter.

And I do flush my black tank from the water spigot, the same water source that is used at the dump station BTW! I have a backflow preventer at the end of the hose under the RV, as well as the one that is built into the flusher itself!

I`m still here! and so are quite a few other people too!

Everytime I connect to the CG water source. Which is all the time.

I use a "y" on my water line. Handy to have a 2nd hose to put out fire or hosing off a grandchild. Some "y" have small passages/valves. To ensure a good water flow I'd look for one with a passage as close in size to the hose as possible. Lowes I believe has one with some pretty large passages. Larger than the others I've seen. Was around $13.

I use a Y where my hose attaches to the RV. When hooking up I flush out the hose before opening the valve to the RV. Never know what critters may have crawled into the water tap or hose.
