OP here. Actually, I passed 3 stations in the last 30 miles, but from previous experience I knew it would go to 1 before running out. I actually got to the casa with 20 miles to E. The trip to the gas station the next day is what brought it to 1 to E.
It's all downhill from my house to the station so I wasn't worried, so I was getting 25 MPG+ on that trip but the lie-o-meter was basing DTE on the 7.7 shown. ...and did I mention that I always carry a 5 gallon spare in the bed when traveling in the desert.
