Yamaha 2000 at COSTCO ?

I saw a Yamaha 2000 generator at COSTCO for under $600.00. How do they compare to Honda's 2000?

  • I read all 13 reviews at the Home Depot site and 10 were great and three were very bad. I bet if there were 13 reviews of the real thing they probably would all be great. There must be a difference.
  • I eyeballed that baby myself. I did buy the led flashlights just down the aisle though.
  • Honda is Red, Yamaha is Blue and the one your looking at is? I'm not bad mouthing any generator, or inverter generator, but your not going to get either Yamaha or Honda for that price. Costco is good about taking things back, I'd find out their policy on this particular item, and if there is a place to have it repaired, and check them out. Safe travels.

The one to which you refer has the yamaha motor but it is made by the company Smarter Tools and claims to have a noise level of 59dB but it doesn't say if that is at the rated load or at 1/4 load. It is alot cheaper but might not be able to be hooked up in series.
Also check out Youtube. There is a video of a comparison between 3 generators one being the smarter tools model.

Thanks for the correction. Electricity was never my strong suit. :S
  • Well, not very long..... :)

  • If it is a true Yamaha EF2000is model (which it doesn't appear to be as per the previous poster), that would be a great deal.

Comparing red/blue generators, I'd say Honda has the edge when it comes to more shops being able to service them, but both Honda and Yamaha are good brands. I like the fuel petcock switch on the Yammies because I can run the line udderly dry before putting it away for storage.
