- DtslingerExplorerOk, here goes.
We worked for The Yellowstone Association 2015 summer and will be returning 2016 summer. We worked in the Visitor Education Center (bookstore) at Old Faithful. This is a paid job. You are expected to work 30 hours/week per person with 2 consecutive days off. We were paid 9.00/hr (may going to 9.50 this year). This is a sales position and you are expected to promote membership in the YA. If you love Yellowstone this is not hard to do. Experience with POS systems is helpful, being tactful with all kinds of people is essential. There are a few slow times but generally you are quite busy. They provided a FHU site less than a mile from Old Faithful and subtracted 120$ /month for site. Many people hiked to work (around the bison). It is a wooded campground and satellite tv is difficult but not impossible. Cell service is adequate if you have Verizon. This can't be said for most areas of the park. You get discounts in the general stores and there is a coin operated laundry in the campground. It's a beautiful, magical place to live and work. But it is a job. The employees have get together soon and you get to know your fellow workers pretty well. Working with foreign visitors is .......an experience!
In talking with workers for concessionaires (Delaware North and Xantera) their work force is a little younger with lots of students (both domestic and foreign) and they 'work hard' as well as have dormitory style housing. We did not talk to camp hosts so cannot compare their experience.
Hope this helps! - cubmaster252Explorer

Would anybody that does this kind of thing at Yellowstone share their story? My wife and I were there in 2014 and wondered about:
* Where do you stay?
* Do you have full hook-ups for the RV?
* How many days a week do you work?
* Do you have or get time to meet other workers?
We are 10 years out from retirement but a working summer in Yellowstone is on our bucket list. I would love to hear anything you have to share about the experience. - unlblkrubiExplorerI'll be there on May 6 till Oct.6
- cbdeajrExplorerHave not worked at Yellowstone, but have worked at Whitefish State Park in Montana the last 4 years.Just spoke with one of the park manager today and he said they still have a few opening for host in western Montana. So if you have an interest in Hosting at a Montana State Park I would suggest you contact them ASAP. Their phone is 406-752-5501. You can go online for the other regions phone numbers. Tell them Cecil Dean told you to call.
