- mobeewanExplorerAnd I perceive I need more use than you so you and don't need anyone to worry about what I will miss. Keep to your fine balance and I will do my own balancing thank you. Nanny, Nanny, Nanny.
- NYCgrrlExplorerI'm betwixt and between in deciding whether placing better internet access into our National parks is a good idea or not.
Currently, I do not allow children traveling with us to a campground to bring electronic gadgets past a Kindle which has a use I can comprehend.
Thought the obsession with electronics was over the top back in the early 80's when I went camping with my kiddos and nearby children played Mario into the night and still think it's worse now. Don't want anyone to miss the Grand Canyon because they're texting/tweeting/whatever. Should all this traveling be about a new environment observed within a family then let's save the Instagrams, FB, Twitters and emails for a set time during the early evening, if at all.
Still, I do need to have cell phone accessibility for work when I travel. As well need to call children's parents and my mother from time to time. So yes, there is a fine balance in how how I perceive the need for this modern convenience. - agesilausExplorer III

Wow. That "advocacy group" is out of touch completely or at least it's leader is.
How the hell does some kid posting facebook updates "take away" anything from other people?? I've never read a more ridiculous response from a supposed official organization in my life.
It's called Nannyism, where some groups think they need to order the rest of the population around. To suit their views. - DSDP_DonExplorerI unless I don't understand the issues, I agree with "pappcam". Other than an added antenna or two (hidden from view), how does internet affect someone's experience in the park. It might even be more attractive to people who can see the park and still stay in touch.
