Just don't be stupid. I have towed for years and became too comfortable. This summer I drove drowsy. I fell asleep at the wheel. I put 53 feet of truck and trailer in the ditch at 50+ MPH. I woke up with tall grass slapping both sides of the truck. I was very fortunate to run off in an area with a very gradual slope with no signs, trees or culverts to hit. I was able to bring the truck and trailer back up on the road with no damage. My dog was asleep in its kennel in the back seat and never woke up. I generally don't tow alone and I will normally stop if I'm drowsy. I was only 15 minutes from home. Like I said, don' be stupid, I was.
