Does 53' of trailer behind a 70" sleeper, being pulled with a CAT...count? I could give you numerous stories. I have been more sideways then I care to remember....trying to avoid some idiot that "didn't see" the 13'6" tall, 8' wide, 70' long, 80,000# vehicle coming at them.
How about the two cars I see in my mirrors playing leap frog behind me at 3:00 in the morning. One passing the other, playing games...then single file to blow by me. As soon as that second car passed me....swerve....in front of me he goes.
That is when I see all the brake lights come on. :E I remember thinking "play with one another, but not with me, I have 44,000# in the trailer".
Engine brake screaming, me standing on the brake pedal, I get my right tires on the shoulder and go blasting by them. WHAM...I hit something.
Luckly it was only the deer these idiots stopped in front of me to avoid. My fiberglass hood didn't fair to well, but everyone was still alive (ok---bambie was hamburger).
You should have seen the look on those boys faces when they had to drive the 1/4 mile up to where I stopped. That was one heck of a WHAM that happened right beside them. ...they realized how eaily they could have been hamburger.
AND for you guys pulling trailers....watch where you turn around.
Two lane road I know well, running with a couple buddies out in front of me, coming up on a steep climb with a truck lane. Buddies tell me there is a van pulling a trailer with another van on it, sitting on the north bound shoulder....clear shot, hammer down for that hill.
I come around a sweeping left turn and there he is...van in MY truck lane, pulling onto shoulder, trailer streched thru both south (MY)lanes and into the north bound lane.
I was already pushing coming outta that left turn...and I had to push further. YES...me going SOUTH, passed that idiot on the NORTH bound shoulder.
I walked that 1/4 mile back down the hill, asked him "Why he was trying to commit suicided." Pulling a u-turn on a blind corner--- "he obviously was trying to kill someone and it DA#N sure better not have been me he was trying to kill".
EDIT: Reading what I just posted, I still get a cold shiver thinking of those two vans straddling my lanes. How it didn't roll onto it's right side as I yanked it hard left ???? How I didn't just driver into that northbound rock wall ???? How did it not flip when I pulled hard right to keep from just blasting of the road into that cliff ???? How long that thing fish-tailed, while I hung on for dear life.
