Is there actually sympathy for those who aren’t really working for a living and think it’s a career being on perpetual vacation living as 21st century hippies, suckering a few bucks out of people who spend hours watching someone live in a van and go mountain biking and stuff?

This isn’t sad, it’s poetic justice. I’d like to do nothing but travel around and go camping 24/7 but I have a job which provides money for me and my family, responsibly.

Personally I think it’s hilarious

Youtubers have a conflict.
- Hard to put out lots of content that will get lots of clicks, if they move 100miles and then sit for 2-4 weeks. Also, for living in a van, sitting stationary for weeks gets old quick.
- You get more clicks doing 500miles per week putting out 3-4 videos on different locations but you burn a lot of fuel.

I think a lot of them jumped on a couple years back when gas was below $2/gal and other modes of travel were very restricted (a few of the general travel channels we watch, did the vanlife shift when covid hit). Now with other modes of travel opening up and gas prices up, we are seeing a shift away.

With longer term stays and with fewer miles, it really starts to favor bigger traditional RVs as you get better living space for those longer stays and with fewer miles, the MPG while moving the RV becomes less critical.

Looks like newbies seeing and experiencing their 1st gas spike.
While no fun, it won't be the first or last time fuel prices/increase spike dramatically.
For those choosing not to live on the road. The same can be said for mortgage rates.

Maybe deceiving driving a motorhome to a destination even 3 hours away, staying there, driving around a tow vehicle or biking not using as much gas as you may think. Sure newbies or those not fit for RVing will quit, those with 20+ years rving have seen this movie before. Only issue will be availability. Drill baby drill.
