Over the years, I have had several different TT's (as family needs changed) but started with a popup. I have driven and stayed in various Class C's that my parents owned and plan to purchase a Class A in the next few years. I love the level floor and lower height of TT's (my current one is still 3 steps off ground, but not as high as most fifth wheels). I plan to go to a Class A as I get ready to fulltime and travel by myself. I have considered staying with a TT to fulltime in, but feel the security of being in a MH for traveling alone is much better. For short term trips, I would truly stay with a TT. I could even stay in the one I have now for longer term.
I don't know about all the current Class C's, but it seems like every one that my parents had, had steps up and down as you moved from front to rear. I also like the ability of the driver's area to become an integral part of the living space that the Class A's have, but that Class C's seem to lack. However, if I weren't living fulltime in the MH, this wouldn't be such an issue (it never was for my parents).
I think the level floor is one of the biggest issues that I would be concerned with for me. If you haven't guessed, I am a bit of a klutz plus have knee issues that make steps difficult. I cannot imagine dealing with steps to go to bathroom in the middle of the night, or to fall up and down going back and forth through the rig.
