It certainly depends on your lifestyle. If you are a RV TRAVELER than the biggest most comforts you can find is what you will be driving.
WE are RV CAMPERS and just don't need all of that bigger is better stuff. They are very expensive to operate and alot to break down on you... To keep ahead of the maintenance alot of folks just trades about every three years...
We were avid tent campers from way back then pulling a large util trailer with our Jeeps.. Went everywhere doing this all over AZ and NM. The only expenses is maybe new tires every four to five years. Finally added the OFF-ROAD POPUP to the fleet since moving to Virginia and still do the tent camping as well. Just roaming around the high country of the VA-TN-SC-NC-GA and ALA is all we want to do and the costs are very minimal.
Adding the POPUP trailer did get us higher off the ground but with the small floorplan we still get to enjoy the outdoors just like before. We have all the modern appliances we need... Perfect for the two of us.
We hook-up with our family usually once a year at LAKEWOOD at Myrtle Beach and they all have the big motorhomes and 5th wheels. When they arrive they are all beat-up for the first couple of days driving in from Central Illinois and North Carolina.. After a week or so at Myrtle Beach the we all head for the Smoky Mtns and spend a couple or three more days there in the mtns on our way back home hehe...
Probably the biggest TT trailer for us would be something around 24-feet or less. We did at one time fall in love with the JAYCO X213 back in 2010 one time.
Our love is camping off the power grid using all the 120VAC items we want to have from an inverter and running off the big battery banks along side a nice creek bed in the mtns somewhere. Deer, Squirrels and Chipmunks are great neighbors... No keeping up with the Joneses required here...
