I don't think anyone has mentioned a class B van camper.
I would buy one again in a heartbeat, and we're going into our fifth year of enjoyment. We travel two+ months at a time, several trips a year - we've gone across the US and up into Canada.
We are snowbirds on the move in the winter, mostly in the Florida Keys where we stay a week or two in each place for a month or two total.
As others say, there are tradeoffs for all RVs, but here's why I love the B:
Both of us can drive it, park it, and it serves as a second vehicle at home, parked in our driveway. (It is used all year, and not sitting there depreciating.)
We enjoy the usual motorhome advantages of vehicle+living quarters with enclosed bathroom, holding tanks, a galley, and beds. (Ours has fixed twin beds convertible to king.) But we don't need a second towed vehicle. We like the car-like handling and parking.
We can fit in just about any camp site. Setup and departure is fast and usually involves only plugging/unplugging electric.
The diesel fuel mileage for our generation/model of Sprinter is 25 mpg, though newer models get somewhat lower mpg.
Finally, the re-sale value appears to be strong.
