SURGE PROTECTOR is an Alice In Wonderland grade buzzword. The dozen or so fried "Autoformers" I have autopsied could have been prevented with an addition of an "Out Of Range" auto disconnect of shore power. I could not believe a 600+ volt reading on my min-max recorder when a distribution transformer blew up.

thus previous discussions of having both an autoformer and a muti-function surge protector, and the debate which goes in line first.
I think the choice in part depends on the type of RV park you habituate. If I was always staying in ones with low voltage I might opt first for the autoformer. if fluctuating voltages are present, the MFSP. but I wouldn't want a surge protector that didn't have an override so I could still get juice for some purposes even if there was low voltage.
