Don, it’s rather (ok, VERY) low-tech AND redneck, but it works, kinda. 
A length of very light gauge wire with an alligator clip on each end. I have two that live under the hood of my C. Putting them in as a bridge across the solenoids provides a trickle charge limited by the capacity of some 24 gauge bell wire.
Better than nothing ...... even if not by much.
