So the burning question is---do 12v LEDs dim with declining battery voltage the same as regular 12v bulbs do?
For the "purists" if anybody is still awake with all this detail, the other thing is how inverters have "amps creep." That is, as the battery voltage declines, the inverter demands more DC amps to maintain the watts for running its 120v load.
The above test was for a short moment each, not long term. Running a 120v lamp for a longer time could add a bit to the DC amps draw from the inverter depending on the SOC of the battery which will decline over time.
However, we also know that as battery voltage declines the brightness of the standard 12v lamps dims, but also this takes fewer DC amps to run. At some point, to get the same light you would have to turn on another 12v regular lamp.
I can't say how that would work for a valid comparison for DC draw, but I think it would take hours of reading lamp time for it to dim that badly. We are into subjective measurements here.
So the burning question is---do 12v LEDs dim with declining battery voltage the same as regular 12v bulbs do, and what would that do to any comparison test?
