Our 2003 Chev 2500HD gasser has a 40amp fuse for Stud 1. With the Diesel, and ? two batteries, ISTR there is another fuse like that in the mix.
I like the idea above that just connecting the trailer and truck 7-pins is causing a short and it is not from the trailer load as such.
