We have 2 of those and use them on D-cell batteries. They work great.

"DOWN HERE" is pretty self-explanatory. FanTastic, Eggs Benedict, Solar Panels and Truffles are just a bit impossible to find.

The noisier the fan the worse seems to be the efficiency. You're caught between the proverbial rock and hard place. Personal fans that won't kill your battery fast don't push a lot of air. Down "here" all the fans come from China. Don't buy a fan with metal blades, those are made for big rigs to keep windshields from fogging up and they eat more than a 15-year old teenager.

You have to KEEP AN EYE on battery voltage or risk destroying your vehicle battery. Go to a ferreteria, purchase an "el cheapo" hand held test meter for twice what it costs north of the border. When the vehicle battery dips lower than 12.50 volts STOP! That's the end of the line.

When you get home, then check into the Fan Tastic Fan Endless Breeze box fan. I wouldn't be without one down here.

Sailboats use fabric DUCTS that can be swiveled atop hatches. They SCOOP the breeze and can blow more air through a trailer or camper than two dozen electric fans. Fill trash sacks with sand and use them for weights to hold the scoop flaps down against the roof. Bending camping tent fiberglass poles work great to shape the scoop. Use ripstop nylon, DOUBLED or even TRIPLED for the fabric. This means some sewing. Doesn't work too hot on a calm day or night.

I run my 12 v fan from Walmart( the black oscillating one) all night when it is hot and don't see any significant drain the next morning using the 12 v TV plug.

This is what we use. We like it and power usage is small - especially since we are in conserve mode a lot of the time.

I bought the 12V oscillating fan at Walmart, less than $20 might have even been $12. :h
It draws one amp or less, moves a lot of air and definitely will work plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet. Even with one smallish battery the fan will run all night. I would strongly recommend that the OP add one more battery, ideally the same size as his existing single to double his capacity as two is waaay better than one. :C

I would have recommended 100w to 200w solar, Fantastic Vent fan and a second battery before you head down to MX. A small 12v fan may work but you will need a charge every morning.

A small 12v to blow air on you would probably be OK. Larger 12v fan to get the heat out of the camper might be a dissappointment with either too much draw or not effective.

Generally, anything 12v is not up the job required of it.

look on the fan it will say how meny watts it pulls, I don,t think it would last the night.
