If it were me, I would light a burner on the stovetop (or, if more suitable, fire up the conventional propane oven—but not everyone has a "real" oven in their RV these days).
The alternator will offset some of the draw of the inverter, but not all. Alternator output is pretty limited at idle and increases with engine speed. Besides, starting the main engine so you don't run the generator during quiet hours is kind of missing the point of the rules IMHO, even given that the main exhaust system is usually more effective at muffling the noise than the generator's system is.
