What a bunch of doom and gloom! I guess you also have a 50/50 chance of wiring up your batteries correctly. Or is it even less than that if you got more than 2 cables to connect.
Those who are smart enough will use a voltmeter to polarity.
My Visio has a 12V brick. I've taken the battery to 16V with no problems to the tv.

You have a 50/50 chance of messing that up to start with and pretty much are voiding any hopes of the "warranty" covering your boo boo.
