One factor mentioned in a blurb I read which used the Morningstar graphs as an example, said the internal controller "closed box" temperature is critical and recommended several ways to keep that down, even to add a fan to blow on it since the AH lost to the fan would be less than the AH saved.
Mex was on about cooling fans for his buck gizmos recently, which fits in with the buck converter in MPPTs needing cooling idea.
So after I blew the fuse in the Eco-Worthy recently, and discovered you can take the top off with those four little screws, I am thinking maybe I should take its top off for the summer and see if that helps any.
Last summer, I put frozen veggie packs up against the Eco-Worthy to see if that would make the amps increase, but it didn't change anything. (It is normally exposed to a cooling breeze, in the shade so I don't have a normal heating problem as such.) Taking the top off might let it actually cool down inside, I don't know.
Anyway, it is another thing to test for when not busy with swimming, BBQing, etc, as required for Rving. :)
I passed on the big Outback with the wizbang thingy because it had a fan. I didn't want to listen to it or get dust up in the controller. It would be easy enough to put one on the heat sink of the MS if I needed. On the Eco-w you could use the load terminals to turn it on and off.
