Home experiments with solar including mine are interesting and generate comments. But repeatable, accurate, etc? Always be suspicious...
My 250W panels are Vmp 30.6V which might suggest that they would not be the best in parallel for a 24V battery. For reference that would be a 12V equivalent of 15.3V. Electrical losses could quickly dilute their effectiveness.
One has to consider all of the equipment like panels, wiring, controller, batteries not to mention weather.
I consider my MS MPPT60 controller a quality controller. I've measured 97% efficiency with 100V panel input to 12V batteries. I do need to reconfirm that efficiency as no doubt there are skeptics out there.
And then with my initial observations on the charging and effect of the bypass diodes with shading result in a hands down win for serial for me.
