Back when I was playing hide-and-go-seek with Tyrannosaurs, I remember seeing "self-regulating" 12-volt panels which were a disaster 15-volt panels. Cooked batteries. Then there were 17.1 volt panels like the Kyoceras which I selected. Would not series connected 17 volt panels be a success with a 24 volt MPPT controller? A learning process for me...
That is the question that has been raised by CAT earlier. The OP test with my 60 cell 230w panel on a 24v bank was with the bank at about 25.5 volts. No problem. The question is whether I could get the batteries to 30 volts or not with the 60 cell panel.
Another question is whether it matters if I use MPPT or PWM for success in reaching that 30 volts. I should be able to answer all that in my next series of tests. Not sure when I will be doing those, perhaps not until next month.
