12volt problem

I have 1989 Itasca Sprint Class C The shore power works fine, everything works, when I disconnect for 12volt nothing works. The house batteries are fine, had them checked. The auto fuses in the power converter with battery charger area are ok. There is a fuse up behind drivers head for switching to charge house batteries while driving, it is ok. Are there other switches or fuses that that need to be checked. This lis my first post.

  • Check to see if the wing nuts to the battery terminals are tight. Mine got loose one time.
  • If the house battery has voltage just start checking for 12v along the wire to the 12v distribution panel. Eventually you will find a fuse, switch, connection, circuit breaker etc with 12v on one side and 0v on the other. Repair, clean or replace that item.
  • Check this Winnebago Link. It only goes back to 1990, but the wiring should be the same or close enough to find the problem. Look for a 30-40 amp circuit breaker by the battery solenoid that maybe popped.
  • Don't know anything about your particular RV but some/most RVs have a battery disconnect switch located somewhere convenient. You might look for something as simple as that.
I'm sure someone familiar with your particular RV will chime in with a suggestion.
