A running 13,500 BTU AC unit typically draws about 12 amps at +-120 volts or 1440 watts. The LRA (Locked Rotor Amps) or the required current to reliably START the AC unit is about 18 to 20 amps or 2160 to 2400 watts. Thats the MINIMUM you need to reliably start and run the above AC unit (once or twice) considering that ALL the wiring, batteries, inverter, voltage drop are up to the task AND there are no other loads on the system. I know, I know, there will always be those who say they've done it with less but I've yet to see anyone do it all day, every day in 115F heat with the system the OP described.
