OK, some additional background. I have a 150 PSW inverter wired with a 15A transfer switch onto one circuit in the TT that powers the TV in the living room and some other stuff. This circuit could also be where the bedroom TV is plugged in so I could use the existing inverter to power this TV as well. The entertainment center divides the bedroom and living room, with a TV on each side facing respectively.
The existing bedroom TV has a separate 150W MSW inverter plugged into the lighter socket on the antenna signal amplifier. I wired a 12v wireless switch onto that outlet and velcro'ed the remote to the back of the TV remote.
So when we are done watching TV and want to turn in, we just hit the remote and it turns off the TV and the inverter, leaving no telltale LED "off" light on the front of the TV. If I power this TV off of the main inverter it would stay on all night since nobody ( ie me) would get out of bed to turn it off when bedtime TV was done.
I am replacing the TV since this is an old model and the digital tuner is less than ideal in terms of picking up stations. that and the picture is crap, this is the Pyle brand TV that came with the TT.
So, I could keep the existing inverter set up but thought it would be more efficient to wire directly and cut out the inefficiency of the inverter.
Believe it or not, the price of flat panel TVs has dropped so much its hard to find one under 22". But I'm still looking. this one at Costco looked to be a good deal so was thinking about getting it.
