When you say it still runs, are you saying its "dieseling", or is it really running? When mine dieseled occasionally all I had to do is drop it in gear
I had similar dieseling run on problem with 85 chevy truck v6,,there was some kind of sensor in the block for emisions system which was faulty and it was hard to shut off,,cost only about 5 bucks to replace..
