1989 Onan Generator ingnition coil question

BTW, I am not getting any spark so I think my coil is bad but I want to be sure it is connected properly when I get a new one. I tried testing hte coil by first ohming it out. Between the + and - terminals there is continuity, no resistance. Between the two outputs to the spark plugs I show only 15 ohms. I also tried measuring the voltage on the coil during start and I get 12 volts(actually only about 9) on both the + and - terminals. Does the coil sound bad to you?

I have similar aged rig from Fleetwood - it has an Emerald Plus 4000 BGE spec H - should be able to find service manual online which may help.

Those coils rarely had problems. More often, an issue with points being the most often cause of no spark.

I have searched online for trouble shooting procedures for the ignition system. I have not seen anything refer to troubleshooting the points or replacing them. Is there anyway to determine if the points are the actual problem and what's the procedure for replacing them? Somewhat of a newbie working on engines and have been online a lot working through this. Negative goes to Points, Positive goes to Control Unit. Which coil terminal has the second wire on it?
Coil "could" be bad but I'm with those who think that
a. a "control" problem which isn't allowing 12VDC to the coil
b. bad condenser or damaged/mis-adjusted points

My model info is not on the generator so I am not sure at it is a bge. It is a 4000 watt Emaerald I genset, that I am sure of. In the manual I saw online it said I should have about 4 ohms across the low voltage leads, mine are shorted and it says around 15000 ohms on high side, mine is 15 ohms.
I might go ahead and buy a coil but I have no idea what the part number is since I do not know the model number.

FYI, the negative terminal has two wires, one is going to a nearby small silver cylinder , condensor maybe, and I have not traced the other back. I am getting 12 volts at the coil,actually slightly less but basically the same voltage as at the fuel pump
