2000 Fleetwood Expedition electrical problem

Any have info on how the auto transfer switch circuit works? When plugged into shore power everything works. After unplugging from shore power and starting the gen set the only ac power available is what goes through the inverter. I can hear the transfer switch energize, but no power to plugs not powered by inverter. Any help will be appreciated.

  • I have a 2001 Expedition.
Sounds like its the same as yours.
When generator runs, it takes about 20 to 30 seconds to provide power to the non-inverter circuits.
Now if yours doesn't provide power after a much longer lenght of time, I'd check the breakers on the generator itself. Breakers in the shorepower must be ok and set or it wouldn't work with shorepower.
  • On the other hand, some Automatic Transfer Switches use power from the generator for their time delay circuit that then activates the transfer relay.
