While the alternator may be full load capable--how does it determine the out put voltage?
There are 48 volt dc air conditioners available as a mini split. I would go that route.
Have you considered providing for 12 volt needs via a DC to dc device (i.e. 48 volts in, 12 volts out)?
It would seem to me to be more efficient to use either 48 volts or 12 volts, but not both. The first thing that comes to mind is having two inverters, when one would do.
How much solar wattage is planned for?
