20W G4 Halogen LED Replacements

The last of my interior lights which need to be replaced with LEDs are the recessed ceiling lights in my AF811.

Currently, the bulbs are halogen 20 watt G4's. *EACH* light draws 1.7amps, and there are 4 of them. You can see why I want to get these swapped out -- we hardly ever turn them on due to their excessive current consumption.

I've spent a very good chunk of time on RV.net, Amazon and Google looking for LED replacements which I think I'll be happy with. I've learned that there are 10W and 20W G4 halogen's, and I definitely want the 20W equivalent. The halogen G4 is rated at ~300 lumens, so I want something close to that as well (I see lots of <200 lumen bulbs, which will be too dim for my satisfaction).

Has anyone replaced their 20W G4 halogen with an LED, and been totally satisfied? Care to share your experience?

  • We have two recessed lights over the sink and noticed they got pretty hot with halogen bulbs. We went with LED and it made a big difference. The lighting is a little less bright and reminds me of florescent lighting, but am satisfied. We had the standard ceiling mount lights in the bedroom area and switched to a new fixture that was LED ''daylight" -makes a big difference when doing laundry and making up the bed.
