220 Volt mishap
I went to plug in my RV inside my parents shop my dad had wired. The outlet is a 220 volts with three prongs. Something similar you would plug in a welder or compressor. I used the 30 amp RV receptac...

Get a new 30A to 50A adapter....doubt the other one is useable after 'mods' and 240V
Get a new RV 30A receptacle
You have 3 wires......connect them to new RV 30A Receptacle
Black HOT
White NEUTRAL
Green GROUND
Now back at service panel....
Black to 'load' side of the 30A Circuit Breaker
White........connect it to Neutral Bar
Green........it should already be connected to Ground. Check
NOW you have a 30A circuit to shop where you can plug in your 50A RV using the New 30A to 50A Adapter.
