220v in 110v system

Hearing element burned out

Replace the electric heat element.

That fuse that was blown on control board was the AC fuse for element.


You're lucky that fuses blew.
Most times when RV gets plugged into 220V circuit boards fry, microwaves fry, electronics fry.

Seeing as 200V Dryer receptacle is different then the 30A plug on RV power cord......HOW DID THEY GET IT PLUGGED IN :H (Jammed it/forced it!)

usually the converter/charger gets fried as it is one of the items always on...

Several items have always on control monitor board... Microwave usually gets zapped...

Most everyone claims they have a good 2000-3000 dollar loss so I am surprised to hear yours got protected like it did with just blown fuses...

I can't believe 'accidentally' is the word. More like 'with great effort'.

Done is done. Test everything 120v and replace as needed.

Check refer outlet with known good device such as drill or lamp. No power could be tripped breaker. Reset all breakers. Turn them off applying light pressure toward off, then turn on main breaker if equipped followed by branch breakers one at a time.
Locate the two wires going from circuit board of the refer to the stack on left side. Check for 120 volt output from the circuit board.
Next check the element for continuity.
Could be damaged circuit board.
More damage can come up later. Air conditioner if it was on, converter

If the fridge was on, I'd bet money the heating element burned out pretty much instantly. Maybe just a fuse blew, but I'd be surprised if you got off that lucky.

You will note that it is only necessary to get the two flat blades shoved in far enough to make contact, and you'll see 240 volts across your RV's systems.

Oh I am quite aware of the 'get a bigger hammer' method.

Was just pointing out to OP that in-laws didn't plug in quite 'accidentally'...it took some effort

Now would be a great time to think about an upgrade to your electrical system, Specifically the install of a Progressive Industries HW-30C. WHY?
Well the next time your In-Laws borrow the trailer, Promissing faithfully not to fry it again, and .. plug into another 220 volt Dryer/Et-al, outlet.. The HW-30 C will protect you.. DO NOT TELL THEM HOW TO BYPASS IT.

Now, the list of possible fried products incledes not only the Fridge A/C Element, though in truth it may have survived, Heating elementes are among the last to blow when this happens.. but the control board (the 120 volt sense circuit) which is much more fragile.

Same for the water heater.

Air conditioner, both control and motors

TV, Radios (if not 12 volt) Microwave

The converter
And all other 120 volt "Stuff".

Check it all out,, Have fun,, Hand him the bill.. DUCK.

But put in that HW-30 C


On a positive note: Some modern electronics uses a newer type of power supply (Switching) and some of those can take 240 volt no problem, this includes TV, Radio, Converter, but likely not the microwave or Fridge and water heater. Sorry about those.
