I believe our Great Wall buddies are getting sophisticated. It happened with Japan, then Formosa (Taiwan) then Korea. I remember when Hyundai first arrived. What a pile of junk! Right now only Lambda can claim clear superiority, quality wise, over a Meanwell. If things in Washingmachine DC lean a certain way all these Kung Foo miracles are going to dry up.

I did understand some of what your guy is saying

And I did see him showing a 1500w inverter for the 600 watt drill
And the 5000w for the 1500 a/c heater and the washer

He is straight forward about needing transformers and heavy ratings to start motors

I use a trip-lite 1250w to power my fridge, six years this month

It's what the Chingrish says that impressed me. This is exactly the same philosophy that Trace, Outback and Magnum ascribes to. The transformer does all the heavy lifting, leaving the MOSFETS a little breathing room. The heavy ribbed case makes a good heat sink.

I love the idea of either/or/choose/one inverting or charging. With a DPDT 30-amp relay (use 2 for insane amount of current) this inverter could be converted to automatic switchover action with switch speed dependent on the reaction time of the relay.

With an EIGHTY AMPERE BATTERY CHARGER in the 12-volt model (that's well over a thousand watts) some serious replenishment could take place.

I have to save for a November doctor voyage so Oct and Nov are out. But come December we'll have to see. For 240 smackers no tax and no shipping, even if it turns out to be merely a pf corrected 80-amp battery charger the price still warrants it. The fully adjustable Vabs and Vfloat is too intriguing to pass up.

Just like with my nine and a half dollar 5-1/2 digit DMM and sixteen dollar clamp on DMM DC ammeter (that accurately renders to second decimal place amperage on low 40 amp scale), maybe I'll get lucky with 3-in-a-row.

China imports a humungous amount of grain from the USA and Canada. Without which many hundreds of millions of Chinese would starve. Pile that atop almost a billion workers thrown out of work (collateral effect) and China's leadership exits stage left - violently. Civil war would be an absolute certainty. Manchirians hate the Cantonese a hundred times more imtensely than the Serbs hate the Croats. Tito, kept them repressed. So it is with the Politburo and Central Committee. PRC covets Taiwan not simply because the island is a "just department" PRC covets it for it's Technology, and human resources.

The Megawatt is an intersting case study. The basic design is Taiwanese. Componenes are Malaysian. Transformers are Taiwanese. The case, fan and inert hardware are Chinese but the circuit board and assembly of unit is done in the Lone Star State.

Honesty is to me a significant attribute. The manufacturer of the gizmo inverter revealed intimate details for nerds as only a nerd could justify. This impresses me. Taiwan transformers are some of the best in the world and only a rash individual would discount the expertise of Siemens electronics and electricals. i.e. this gizmo is not Chinese junk. It does have mighty strange quirks and features but it is for off grid use. Did you note the charger pf correction? The 12 volt unit has a manipulable charger control circuit. Not even my Trace has that. Trace bent to please wog customers who couldn't bear setting down a Budweiser and missing a rerun of Dukes of Hazzard.

The USA treated it as a free nation in it's own right and we traded with it.. however China claimed it as their own. however following the presidency of Richard Nixon he went on a mission to China and negotiated trade deals which is why the Walton family now owns a store that really should be named China*Mart.

Sadly for Taiwan.. China is now back in control of that island nation, So Taiwan is once again part of China.

Spider Robinson wrote a story (one of his Callahan Bar stories, the 1st) called "The Time Traveler" Basically he blinked, closed his eyes in 1960, re-opened them in 1970 (NOTE: the "Blink" is a lot more involved but very possible, he was basically tossed in a hole for 10 years, So it took him 10 years to time travel 10 years into the future but from his point of view everything changed in teh blink of an eye)

No, but autoformers may be useful in situations where low voltage is endemic.

On my current trip, where I am limited to 15 amp outlets, I've used it to do voltage support for the electric heaters, and the microwave. The "feed" to the RV was 100 feet of #10 wire.

Boost was from 106 up to 116 volts. That allows the heaters to come much closer to their rated output in watts.

Since the Magnum is not available, I'm back to monitoring voltage and wattage.

Hi Mex,

The Magnum was charging at 74 amps--which works out to just under 60% of its rating of 125 amps.

Basically the cooling fan(s) failed. Or the circuit that causes the fan(s) to run failed.

I believe the automatic transfer switch was on its way to lala land, too.

Magnum is stepping up to the plate and sending me a new unit.
